Trip Advisor has come through yet again for trip planning. In this case, I had planned a return road trip with my 80 year old parents to whale watch. From Todos Santos to return to Los Angeles. Magdalena Bay was to be the 1st stop. I also accepted his recommendation to stay at Hotel Villas Isabel. I would stay again. The rooms were comfortable and clean. Juan, our guide, spotted the 1st whale of the season and we enjoyed hours of following a pregnant gray whale.
Juan's expertise guided us with the whale diving under our panga several times. An extra bonus was viewing an overwhelming bird population and treking through the white sand dunes taking a swim. A walk through San Carlos exposes one to the beauty of a fisherman's village- sand streets, fish net property line fences and the early am procession of pangas marching out to the bay.
Come and visit. It is worth the drive. The whale watching in Mag Bay is the best in the world! You are up close and personal with the whales and Marcos and his team make sure you experience not only the whales but all Mag Bay has to offer. Marcos has been doing whale watching tours since he was a boy growing up in the area so there isn't a better person to tell you the history of the whales and the bay.
He is known as the Whale Whisperer and you will know why after a day on the bay with him. You will have the time of your life!!! Enrique Soto is the best local operator and a friend over these past 17 years of doing whale watching with him and his sons.
