This was my very first experience at a traditional Korean spa. It was unique. The body scrub was I went to Arisoo expecting a relaxing and pampered day.
Instead I felt ripped off and exhausted. Firstly the cleanliness has much to be desired. After waiting too long in the cool pool to be called in for a body scrub- I was finally on the table- the Asian woman could not speak English - she proceeded to scrub me so hard I thought my skin was going to tear- I tried to tell her less pressure to no avail.
She then started the massage- absolutely no technique and certainly not a therapeutic massage- she basically just vigourisly and extremely hard rubbed my body up and down. This was all in a wet room where she threw buckets of hot water on me to wash me off. All up the scrub and massage were 35 minutes. The manicure was basically clean the nails and a new coat of polish that smudged 3 hours later.
I certainly would not go again and warn others not to be ripped off like my friend and I. All up was maybe 1 hour of body scrub I am not sure they use new scrubs for each person, we were lucky we were first bookings of the day , followed by a very basic massage, hair wash and what they call a facial.
The facial was basically them washing your face and putting cucumber on it. All of this takes place lying in the room with 4 waterproof beds we were naked except for our bottom swimmers. There is no tranquility, the people booked after us could walk in and see us naked as there are no doors and the sounds echo so you can hear people talking very loudly. Don't expect a quiet relaxing experienced, we did not receive what we expected or paid for.
