You didn't answer my questions, now did you? What does that make your response? Albania is known for its criminal elements and I wanted to read responses from those that have been there. Not people hurling ignorant insults. Albania is known for its criminal elements according to who??? The movie Taken??? Albania has got no more, no less criminals than any other europian country, and is a safe country. In fact it is much safer than many western countries.
Having said that though, every tourist should be careful as they would when visiting other countries. I believe Americans can stay up to a year without visa, and if they wish to stay longer they easily can get a residence permit.
We love Americans, and love it when they choose to stay here. In October, both Saranda and Vlora are less expensive than summer months. Sarande is a small town, Vlore about three times its size. America is the epicenter of world crime , prostitution, strip clubs, massive drug trafficking, massive drug consumption, mass shootings, no go areas etc. Albanian gangsters operate in big operations mostly outside Albania and have nothing to do with small unimportant fishes such as you. I have felt more safe in Albania than in Netherlands for example. TripAdvisor staff removed this post either because the author requested it, or because it did not meet TripAdvisor's forum guidelines.
