We absolutely loved this beach! It's just south of the cruise ship port of Costa Maya, Mexico. A lot of people stay in the tourist trap of the city of Costa Maya so the beach is fairly bare compared to anywhere else. There are A LOT of peddlers though trying to get you to go into their shops which is super annoying. There are lots of places to get massages on the beach and theyre super cheap.
The drinks are very cheap too. We ate at El Delfin and it was fabulous. We got seviche and it was a monster plate full of shrimp and octopus. Oh and you will try to be talked into some "awesome" deal when you first get to Costa Maya Dont fall for it unless you are expecting to drink 20 drinks.
Walking north on the beach past the lighthouse are even more secluded beaches. No chairs but also no peddlers or people. We were the only ones there for hours and we did some pretty cool snorkeling.
Just a very relaxing paradise. Picturesque mahahual has many small shops and a nice boardwalk along the beach. We spent 2 months in Mahahual last year,and one month this year. First off no one including single brothers has ever been offered a prostitute.
We did get cheap massages a few times on the beach. You won't beat the prices. Bathrooms will depend on which beach club you are at. There is no charge for loungers here if you drink or have food. Paddleboards and kayaks are available for rent or at some of the beach clubs. I've been all over the Caribbean and think this is a well priced nice beach.
